The Kia Forte finished first among all compact sedans for initial quality in the latest J.D. Power 2022 Initial Quality Study. The new Kia Forte did better than every other compact sedan on the market including the Toyota Corolla, the Nissan Sentra, and the Honda Civic among others.
Kia did very well across the board in the 2022 J.D. Power study for initial quality. The Korean automaker finished fourth overall among all brands, tied with luxury brand Genesis and well ahead of competitors Toyota, Honda, Mazda, and Hyundai to name a few.
In order to determine which vehicles offer the highest level of initial quality, J.D. Power surveys consumers who have purchased their vehicle in the last 90 days. Over 80,000 consumers were surveyed for the 2022 J.D. Power Initial Quality Study. With just 156 problems per 100 vehicles, Kia was well ahead of the average of 180 problems per 100 vehicles for the industry overall, Moreover, Kia vehicles did significantly better than Honda, Mazda, Toyota, and Hyundai models, to name a few.
